Mary Lane Sloan

I am a Columbia native, born and raised. I grew up in the heart of Shandon and attended AC Moore Elementary, Hand Middle, and Dreher High School. I went to Presbyterian College, in Clinton, SC, where I majored in Elementary Education and minored in English. Also, during my time at PC, I was an active member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and Student Volunteer Services.
After I graduated from PC, I moved back to Columbia and married my high school sweetheart. For the next four years I taught 4th and 5th grade at Lonnie B. Nelson Elementary School. During my fourth year, I attained National Board Certification, which is one of the highest degrees awarded to educators. And while I loved teaching, I was ready to try something different. I enjoy using many of my skills from the classroom, such as diligence, patience, problem-solving, organization, and positive attitude to help guide buyers and sellers in the home buying process. I am an Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR), and enjoy working with buyers from all walks of life.
I love living in Columbia, which is why I am passionate about community service and community involvement. I am a member of several local organizations, such as The Columbia Junior League, The Boy’s & Girl’s Club of The Midlands, The Midlands Homelessness Coalition, and I served on the launch team responsible for founding New Kirk Presbyterian Church in Blythewood. I also enjoy cooking, exercising, spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, and of course, watching the Gamecocks play football.

Columbia is and will always be my home, and I am proud to have the opportunity to help make it yours!

Testimonials

We just wanted to let you know what a wonderful experience we had working with Andrea Reynolds and Mary Lane Sloan. They were so friendly and knowledgeable. They took the time to find out our housing preferences and listened to our concerns. We found their previews of homes invaluable in narrowing our choices. The Buyer’s proposal notebook they prepared for us provided in-depth information that we needed about the houses and the market conditions . With their help we were able to find a home and write a contract in 3 days. They truly made our house hunting an enjoyable time.

Mary Lane, I want you to know that, I really appreciate you being in my corner this whole time. I believe that your professionalism and concern for your clients is above and beyond the call of a Realtor. And I feel very confident recommending you to my friends and family when purchasing their next home.

First of all, I want to say that I regard Mary Lane as a person with a high moral ethic and work ethic, and I am honored to write this letter of reference for such an outstanding individual. Mary Lane helped us to find a home in Columbia. We were living in Virginia at the time and buying a house from long distance had the potential of being disastrous. However, we were referred to Mary Lane who helped make this move a great experience for us for many different reasons. Mary Lane made us feel at ease. She took the time to get to know us so that she could better understand what kind of home we were looking for. But at the same time, we came to know that we had a realtor who was on our side no matter what! We had no doubt at all that Mary Lane was our realtor. She represented us. And we trusted her. These are things that you just can’t put a dollar figure on. When going through the stresses of buying a home we found a great deal of peace in knowing that Mary Lane was there for us. Yes, Mary Lane was there for us in so many ways. She was there for us with her time—there would be days when I would call her 3 or 4 times! She was there for us in terms of energy and enthusiasm. When we would come into town for a day of house-hunting Mary Lane was ready and organized. She had seen all the properties beforehand, knew their pros and cons, and had researched the neighborhood for a concise market analysis. Mary Lane was there for us with her wisdom and guidance. Her counsel was always right on. She knows what she is doing! She is an expert. She is a professional. Mary Lane understands the current market strengths and weaknesses, and she helped us time and again with her good advice. Mary Lane is diligent, creative, hard working, innovative, trustful, a great counselor, organized, and a wonderfully pleasant person to be around. I am one of the pastors of Trinity Presbyterian Church and I would not hesitate to recommend her to someone in this congregation. Also, if we look for a house in the future, we will call upon Mary Lane. Robert McMullen
